Iowa colleges and universities offer hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of scholarship support to international students each year. The following list shows examples of some of the scholarships offered by each member school and a link to more information on their financial aid for international students.
Buena Vista University

Buena Vista University offers Academic Achievement Scholarships that range from $9,000 - $18,000 USD per year based off a student's academic records and/or English proficiency test scores. Briar Cliff University

Briar Cliff University offers Academic Achievement Scholarships ranging from $4,000 to $10,000 USD per year based on a student's G.P.A. (U.S. equivalent). Eligibility is determined automatically upon admission.The Presidential Scholarship Competition for a full tuition scholarship is open each year for new applicants who have demonstrated leadership. Eligibility to apply and participate in the competition requires a minimum G.P.A. of 3.75 and a 26 ACT or 1170 SAT (critical reading and mathematics combined). Coe College

Coe College offers a wide array of academic scholarships and awards for international students. Minimal need-based aid is also available for students with strong acacemic backgrounds.   • One full-tuition scholarship available
  • Academic merit-based Scholarships: $16,000 to $26,000 per year
  • Performance-based scholarships in Art, Music or Theatre: $1,000 to $5,000 per year

Dordt College

International Student Tuition Grants
In addition to academic, music, and athletic scholarships, Dordt College offers need-based International Student Tuition Grants of up to $10,000 per academic year for qualifying students.

Iowa State University

International Merit Scholarship Students with strong academic backgrounds and extra-curricular activities may apply for this competitive, merit-based award wich ranges from $4,000 - $8,000 per year. Kirkwood Community College

Global Citizen Scholarship International Students with strong academic backgrounds may qualify for this scholarship of $1,000 for your first year of study at Kirkwood.
Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible for admission to Kirkwood Community College
  • Essay and 2 letters of recommendation

Luther College

Luther College provides a range of academic, music, and need-based scholarships for academically talented international students. Academic scholarships range from $5,000 - $18,000 per year; total gift aid ranges up to $27,000 per year. The University of Iowa

International Scholars Award - $8,000 ($2,000 per year); for incoming first-year students with outstanding high school records. Eligible students are considered automatically upon admission without ACT or SAT.

International Student Scholar Award Students with strong academic backgrounds may qualify for this scholarship ranging from $1,000 - $6,000 per year.
Qualifications:

  • Equivalent grade pint average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Proof of English proficiency
  • Examples of leadership and service

Upper Iowa University

Upper Iowa University offers competitve scholarships for international students ranging from $5,000 to $14,000. International freshmen and international transfer students are considered for these scholarships automatically upon acceptance. These scholarships are based upon GPA and are renewable each year.
